Wanderers Academy for Girls
WAGs provide our junior female players with an opportunity to participate in specialised, girls only training sessions in addition to your own teams' training. WAGS also gives parents and coaches the chance to participant in each session.
Training sessions led by Sarah Jones and will be fun, full of active participation and players will learn a variety of skills to assist in building your knowledge, technique and confidence in soccer.
At Wanderers, we feel that every player is of utmost importance and with increasing numbers of girls playing soccer, we want to encourage your learning and enjoyment of the game while also building your confidence on and off the field.
Training will be held the first Thursday of every month at 4pm.
Interested players RSVP by Apr 8th.

Become a Referee for FREE
Mackay & Regional Football Zone Referees are currently looking for people who are 13 years of age or older and interested in becoming a match official in 2013. Registration of referees in 2013 is FREE. Read more here.
Wanderers highly encourage anyone interested to take up the offer. We desperately need more officials in the region to help the game develop and grow.
The Buddy System
In 2013 Mackay Wanderers FC are pursuing a new direction in building the relationships between the senior players and junior players at the Club. And as March 17 to April 17 2013 is Football Federation Australia’s “Grassroots Football Month”, Mackay Wanderers FC would like to announce the 2013 Senior to Junior Buddy Program initiative. The purpose of this initiative is to improve the visibility of senior players amongst the junior teams so junior players can see what it means to be a Wanderers footballer. Senior players have been assigned to junior teams and will endeavour to visit either trainings or games every 4-6 weeks to encourage the development of junior players and their enjoyment of the world game.
Coaches and parents of junior players are encouraged to keep an eye out for the Senior players as they visit their “Buddies” throughout they year”
Defib your Club for Life
Nye Keegan Sporting Hearts Donate Defibrillator
Nye Keegan Sporting Hearts was originally formed in January 2009 to promote awareness and prevention of “Sudden Cardiac Death in the Young”. It’s estimated that 300 to 500 people, under the age of 35 will die each year from a sudden cardiac arrest due to an underlying and undiagnosed cardiac condition.
Last year thanks to the efforts of Keith McAree from the Mackay Wanderers Football Club, we raised over $5000. We will be using the funds to purchase two AED units (Automated External Defibrillator) through an organisation called Defib Your Club for Life. DFYCFL defibrillators have already saved lives.
Nye Keegan Sporting Hearts having kindly donated one of these units to Mackay Wanderers which we are very grateful for.
